What are methods of teaching? The different types of methods of teaching that the teacher adopts to teach in the class are known as the method of teaching. The method of teaching adopted by the teacher is mostly based on how the method can make the class more convenient and easier for the students of a particular subject. For particular teaching, the learner or the nature of the subject matter and type of learning makes it more appropriate and efficient. The classification method of teaching can be divided into two categories: one is child-centred, and the other one is teacher-centred. It is the primary role of the students to gain information with the goal of testing passing. The main aim of the teacher is to pass knowledge to the students. Though teacher teaching is the main role in student-centred learning, students also play an equal role in learning. In this process, the teacher's role is to guide the students and comprehension of materials. Formal and informal assessment forms include group discussion, portfolios, and class participation. In this, teaching and assessment are always connected. Different types of teaching methods Directs Methods-In direct methods, the meaning of language should be directly connected with the targeted language, without translating it into the native language or in the mother tongue. Lecture Method- The lecture method is a traditional method of teaching where a teacher presents information to a large group of people. In this method, the students take notes and listen as the teacher stands in front and passes the information. Demonstration Method- In the demonstration method, the ideas are communicated with the help of visuals such as PowerPoint, charts, posters, etc. Demonstration is the process of showing how to do something step by step. Socratic Method- Sharing dialogue between teacher and students is a Socratic teaching method. Students show participation by actively engaging or asking questions about their wishes. The Project method: The Project method is one of the modern teaching methods. The student shares their idea on a specific topic innovatively, like showing models, decorating, etc. Tutorial Method- The Tutorial method is conducted in a small group of 4-10 people and has the advantage of interacting between students and children. It is the ideal form of teaching. Methods of teaching in the mother tongue Students who speak in their mother tongue feel more comfortable understanding. Mother tongue plays a vital role in a child's language development. Children very effectively learn their mother tongue. Important factors that the child learns in their mother tongue are as follows:----- Listening memory, motivational vocabulary, repetition, paternal involvement, and low. In the direct method of teaching, we can see the use of native language for the process of teaching. In the mother tongue, study becomes easier and more effective to learn. Few teachers face problems in teaching grammar to the child. Therefore, below are some suggestions for a smooth teaching process for the teacher. a) It is often accepted that the teacher should directly translate an unknown word rather than contextualize the meaning. b) However, some teachers feel uncomfortable teaching in their mother tongue, which hinders students' teaching. Conclusion Methods of teaching play an important role in the teaching and learning process. Different methods are engaged in different types of lessons. All these methods are useful in their ways and are interchangeable. It is advised that the teacher use a variety of teaching and learning processes in a single period so that the class becomes interesting and enjoyable. Mother tongue also has a vital role in teaching. All the methods should be taught in the mother tongue for the chapter's easygoing. The teacher should adopt their mother tongue as their teaching process.
