A conducive environment is one that provides the right condition for something good to happen or exist. Such a condition is necessary for the teaching learning process to be a successful one. The goal of a conducive environment is to establish a classroom that is welcoming, safe and engaging where every student feels valued and encouraged to participate. The principles of creating a conducive environment are as follows:- 1. Safety and comfort- It is the responsibility of the teacher to ensure that the environment is physically and emotionally safe. Comfort in sitting, adequate lighting, temperature control and clean surroundings contribute significantly to create a space which is secure. For example – If the classroom is missing fans or benches and desks the teacher has to inform the administration and make those facilities available for the students. 2. Social interaction and collaboration:- As a teacher it is essential to encourage teamwork, open dialogue and knowledge sharing. This is achieved through flexible sitting arrangements, collaborative work spaces and opportunities for social interaction. For example- When a topic is given, groups of four or five can be made to discuss and share the knowledge of the students with one another. 3. Feedback and support system:- A teacher should create an environment where constructive feedback is provided and support is available. For example- When the results of evaluation are declared, the teachers provide essential feedback regarding the shortcomings of the students. 4. Motivation and inspirational elements:- It is the duty of a teacher to add elements like motivational posters, quotes and decorations that reflect the goals or values of the teaching learning environment. For example- The teacher writes quotes from the books written by APJ Abdul Kalam in the blackboard. Therefore, creating a conducive environment is an ongoing process that requires careful planning and attention to detail and ongoing evaluation. A teacher by creating an ideal learning environment can ensure a favorable condition for the learners which will assist the learners in learning, maintain better focus and reducing stress, resulting in a better academic performance.
